Darth Thanat began as a lowly Jedi guard. He lived in an age where the stories of Anakin Skywalker were regarded as legends. Thanat, then known as Kimari Xion, was one of those that wasn't entirely sure about the merit of the legends. During the time of his Jedi training and at an academy for up and coming officers, he began to read the history of the force at the Jedi Archives. He became fascinated with Anakin's story and studied it. It became an obsession for him. Soon he tried to trace where Anakin went wrong and how he could possibly harness the full power of the force for good without falling to the dark side.

None of the other Jedi noticed his studies or his changing behaviors. At first he was just a mediocre enforcer. Then, people began to notice when he became stronger in the force and started to gain abilities that some believed were only myths. Just months after his secret studies, he became one of the most powerful force users in his squad. This greatly showed how much the Jedi had truly fallen. He was awarded and some saw him as a bright and shining star. Little did they know the true nature of his being.

Quickly, Kimari found himself swept away in the teachings of the dark side and of the powers he could possess. Upon having an epiphone, Kimari left the Jedi academy in search of Korriban and the outer rim worlds that were thought to hold ancient Sith holocrons that revealed the teachings of great Sith masters. To the Jedi and the people that knew him, it was an unbelievable tragedy. A true hero vanished from thin air.

Years later he resurfaced. People rejoiced, but they quickly saw a change him in. He called for reform and to overthrow the Jedi. He taught the populace of how their teachings were for the weak and that they were nothing but simpletons trying to control the lives of people everywhere. The Jedi turned on Kimari leading to a great power struggle that lasted for days. It took the full force of the Jedi to drive away Kimari. The people turned their backs on him and looked upon his legacy in shame. Kimari vowed his revenge and that he would return.

Away on the forgotten planet of Korriban, home of the Sith, Kimari began to rebuild the ruins of an ancient Sith temple. This site would be the breeding ground for a new age of Sith that would wipe the Jedi from the galaxy once and for all. He secretly spread the word amongst circles of those that were discontent with the current state of things. Soon, eager students began coming in droves.

With his academy booming, Kimari cast away his old identity and became a new man... Darth Thanat, Dark Lord of the Sith.
