Quite frankly, anyone who calls Carcass' later albums melodeath is a gigantic faggot.

>:O

May have had an influence on melodeath, but Heartwork does not belong to that genre.

Just doesn't seem to fit structurally to what I'm used to hearing in melodeath. Can't really explain it, but Heartwork to me sounds more like a death metal album with melody. There's melody, but it's not the key component of the music; the "death" comes before the "melody." But then, I guess the same could be said of At the Gates' later stuff, so maybe it's just a worthless genre. :o Although both The Year of Our Lord and Dark Tranquillity make me think "melody before death," so I dunno.

I'm just a fagtwerp.

I don't like Melodic Death Metal, because it feels like Death Metal that has had all the most enjoyable aspects of Death Metal removed from the music so as to appeal to people who wouldn't listen to Death Metal in the first place. I feel like I'm watching something such as a censored Saturday morning action cartoon.

Laugh Does that bother you, Greeny?

CnC (from IGN and occassionally here) has been trying to get me into black metal recently. He's given me some good bands, so it might be a genre I become a fan of.

No, not at all. Just interesting to see so many genres of metal without one -core genre mentioned.

I've been wanting to get into black metal myself but I haven't really been bothered. I'm making an attempt to listen to some of the local bands in my area. Some are pretty good so I'll be sticking to exploring what's in my area for the time being.

I don't really like any -core bands, except for Trivium. But theyre also Heavy/thrash. That's what it said in MetalArchives.

But these genres are really getting out of hand, and i see a lot of people arguing about it. It seems like, you can just take any word and put the word "metal" or "core" in front of it. For example:
"Spice-core": Mexican metal.
"Flower metal": Hippie Metal.
"Slam-core"
"Stoner metal"
"Fiendish metal"
It's really annoying, any metal is still metal!!!!! rabbit

Stoner metal I guess would be legit. There is stoner rock. As for the others... wtf.

Trivium = win. Well in my books they do.
