Santa Sangre - Fucking Tits of the Highest Order/10

This movie rules so much. Watched it on Netflix and am gonna pick up the Blu-ray as soon as I have some money. A slasher flick Jodorowsky style is very good indeed. Easily one of the best horror movies I've seen in a good long while. Has an intelligence and endearment that's incredibly rare in horror films.

Now I'm gonna follow it up with a senseless Friday the 13th knockoff, The Burning, lol. An old Miramax/Weinstein flick. Looks great; trailer really caught my eye. Interestingly, despite it cashing in on the F13/bodycount/slasher craze, Tom Savini did the effects, lol.

Modus Operandi - Lots of Titties/10

Really cool exploitation film done in the vein of such flicks from the '60s and '70s. Looks and feels a hell of a lot more authentic than all these big "grindhouse" films. (I don't really know what a grindhouse film is, but the term's always being thrown around. A grindhouse was a theater that did double features, usually of exploitation films, but also martial arts flicks and the like. So..."grindhouse film"? Really?)

Low budget independent flick from Milwaukee. Wooooo! That director dude from American Movie, Mark Borchardt, is in it; so's Danny Trejo. Really enjoyed it, and all the boobs! Seems like every scene in the film had a new set of tatties.

Hotel Rwanda: 9/10 - A pretty powerful sad and moving film. Don Cheadle is great. The most remarkable part is that this actually happened.

Ghost World: 8/10 - Pretty good comedy, somewhat heartfelt as well.

John Carpenter's The Thing

6/10

Watched it last night, wasn't as good as expected, maybe I wasn't in the right mood for it. The whole premise of the movie was rather dull. The presence of the alien just didn't seem threatening or suspenseful at all, and I couldn't have cared less if the entire crew died or not.

Would probably be a better experience than watching that movie.

The Thing is the greatest horror film ever made and one of the few that's actually scary. Alien is another. Sci-fi/horror got it right.

You're serious? That movie was not scary in the slightest bit. And when I watch these types of movies at night by myself I usually can get a pretty good vibe from them.

The scariest part of the movie wasn't actually part of the movie. My dog started howling when all those dogs were getting annihilated in the cage. My dog never howls so that was creepy for me. lol

The scariest part involving dogs isn't when they're all going nuts, that's just an intense scene with pretty cool effects. The creepiest part is when the new dog from the Norwegians (HEY SWEDEN!) is alone and creeping around the camp in the middle of some fantastic lighting and through a short but brilliant tracking shot and to the tune of a masterfully mixed for placement Stevie Wonder.

For real. Fuck Lassie. Best dog actor ever.

I was given The Thing on dvd but it won't play. I saw it when I was little but I don't remember anything about it.

Alien... I just don't like. I think it's incredibly boring. Didn't really think it was scary or anything.

A Tale of Two Sisters really creeped me out. I was watching that movie on a laptop with the lights out and headphones on. I had to just pause the movie at one part and go do something else. All that tension was just killing me.

A Tale of Two Sisters is fucking gay, though. Japanese ghost flicks blow. The Thing and Alien are incredible. I'll bet even Cincy in all his gayness will at the very least say they're good movies. I can't believe how much you two are gaying this place up right now!
