Considering doing this and I know some of you do it every year.  What movies are you guys planning on watching?  I think I'd like to do a movie a day thing this year to take my mind off things.  Considering starting tonight with Lords of Salem.  Never seen it before and for the last few weeks I've been feeling like I should give it a go.

I guess this thread can serve as discussion for what we've watched and what we plan on watching.

I'm not far into Lords of Salem... but my thoughts thus far are: man, this is fucking dumb... and Rob Zombie can make a legit black metal song?

I hadn't consciously decided to do it, but I did watch some Walking Dead tonight so I may as well try

Trying to get at least two movies a day, but October 1st started with just one (and a couple Rob Zombie music videos). Watched The People Under the Stairs with my girlfriend since I just got her the Blu-ray. It was my second time watching it and I think I enjoyed it less than the first, although I was really tired and distracted so I missed a lot. It's a pretty fun romp.

Normally I'd be picking all the movies but with the g/f living with me currently, she has a pick. We're basically alternating movies which we usually do anyway.

I had started writing down movies we'd like to watch, including showing her Black Sabbath and the Universal/Karloff Frankenstein trilogy (with Young Frankenstein tacked at the end since it's marvelous and references all three). The list got pretty big so I doubt we'll get terribly far and will just have to whittle it down to "must watch" movies; plus, I'd like to get in some movies I haven't seen before, probably by myself while she's asleep, like perhaps finally seeing the Blind Dead movies that I've had forever.

Got the place all decked out in H'ween decor per usual. Might take pics. This little ghost is one of my fave pieces.

I was gonna watch something now, but considering I got home from work early and didn't sleep well last night, I'd better crawl into bed, especially since I gotta get up hella early Saturday to hit up the RenFest on its last day (free tix, the only time it's worth it).

Two a day? Shit man, I couldn't do that. One will be a struggle for me. I'm thinking maybe L'Inferno tomorrow since I haven't watched it in a while and I do like it. Or doing the Friday The 13th series.

Lords of Salem was a bust though. Movie fucking sucked.

Do you like Walking Dead, frank? I just can't stand that show. Haven't been able to get into it since the beginning even though I've watched it up through season 4.

Seasons 1 and 2 were alright. I thought 3 and 4 were quite good. Since I'm actually 100% caught up on my movie backlog, I'll just probably grab random movies every night once I'm finished with WD

I can't most days either but I try. A guy I know is already on his fifth or sixth film this year, but while that dude manages a store, I don't think he has any shred of social life since he split apart with his girlfriend years ago.

Nope, still living with le rents, lol. She had moved in after the seizure. There's always been the likelihood of getting hitched and getting a place of our own (likely just an apartment to start).

2. The Monster Squad - 7/10 RW
3. Frankenstein - 8/10 RW
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 9/10 RW
5. House of 1000 Corpses - 8/10 RW
6. 42nd Street Memories: The Rise and Fall of America's Most Notorious Street - 7/10
7. The Devil's Rejects - 7/10 RW
8. Night of the Living Dead (1990) - 8/10 RW
9. The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - 5/10 RW – this one's nowhere near as good as I remembered

Which Frankenstein did you watch, bro?

I've been meaning to watch The Monster Squad again since it came on Netflix. Today, I watched Cannibal Ferox and Curse of Chucky. I'm going to say both movies were shit. I don't know if Ferox came before or after Holocaust, but it seemed like a knock-off. It had copy-cat animal cruelty and torture, virtually the same plot, and honestly it was just weak all around. Cannibal Holocaust makes me feel bad for what the movie means. Cannibal Ferox just made me feel bad for watching it... and I don't think that's what exploitation movies are for. I believe they should have depth and make you feel bad for reasons other than 'Fuck, I watched that'.

Curse of Chucky was actually a decent classic horror movie until the last 20 minutes or so. Then it turned into typical dumb 'Chucky' movie fair rather than being a Child's Play sequel. I expected it, but the better part of the movie fooled me into thinking it would be more. Guess I'm the idiot here.

My wife hasn't seen ANY of the Saw movies. I only enjoy the first 3, but she's been saying she'd watch those movies with me for years. So I'm going to take my therapy, and October, as an excuse for her to watch the series with me. The first through V is on Netflix right now... so we'll watch those. I expect us to either watch the first two or the first three tonight. That will get me back on track for my horror marathon.

The 1931 Universal one; I intend to watch Bride of Frankenstein tonight and eventually Son of Frankenstein, which I've never seen. I've never seen any of the Hammer ones but I'd like to.

Ferox is a total CH ripoff but I love the shit out of that awful movie. Hooks through the boobs.

I watched Curse of Chucky a couple weeks ago and yeah, I didn't much care for it. It's possibly better than the third movie but not by much. Some of the kills were super dumb even by slasher standards, like the girl being electrocuted by a lamp sitting in a small puddle of water.

I only just saw the Chucky sequels over the past year, and I thought they were really on to something with Bride of Chucky and the comical nature of things, turning it more into a comedy series centered on Chucky than a comedic slasher series focused on a protagonist. Seed was all right, but with Curse they tried going back to the formula of the original movie, and it felt like a step back, even though the first is easily my favorite in the series.

Monster Squad is a fun Goonies wannabe with Universal Monsters. Got some real funny lines in it. It's not a great movie by any means but I enjoy it.

Only ever saw the first Saw, wasn't a fan way back when it came out. Felt kinda pointless and predictable (I knew that "dead" guy on the floor would be the mastermind), and there just wasn't the fun element of a slasher movie. But I've heard the sequels get better so I dunno, maybe I'll go through 'em sometime.

I saw 3 cannibal type movies around the same time. Cannibal Ferox, Cannibal Holocaust and The Mountain of the Cannibal God. They all do the same thing and seem to have to incorporate animal cruelty into it somehow. The thing is the animal cruelty didn't upset me personally. They're mostly there for the gore. Mountain of the Cannibal God is the one of the pig fucking (I got them mixed up earlier when I mentioned it I suppose). I dunno, I guess I was going to say something here but none of them are really movies you watch to be entertained. I didn't feel bad watching them but I didn't feel like it was time well spent after.

That commentary's pretty fun. What's even better is the Mark Borchardt and Mike Schank commentary which is absolutely off-the-wall funny.

Oct. Horrorthon '15 continues.

11. The Bride of Frankenstein - 9/10 RW
12. Sleepy Hollow - 7/10 RW
13. Bram Stoker's Dracula - 8/10 RW
14. Son of Frankenstein - 8/10
15. The Conjuring - 7/10 RW
16. Return of the Evil Dead - 8/10
17. Young Frankenstein - 8/10 RW
18. The Rocky Horror Picture Show - 6/10 RW
19. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - 10/10 RW
20. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - 8/10 RW
21. The Ghost Galleon - 6/10

Not all horror films but befitting Halloweentime.

Just one more in the Blind Dead series to go; the first two are great (liked the second more, though that's an unpopular opinion apparently), but the third was really slow and weird. I still enjoyed it because of the atmosphere and bikini babes, but no bare bosoms like the first two, so I are disappoint.

When I wake up later today (dammit, I didn't intend to be turning in at 6 a.m.) the girl and I will be doing the original three Evil Deads. If my Scream Factory copy of Army arrives, we'll probably watch the remastered international cut, which I don't think I've ever seen.

In the spirit of this thread I watched Psycho last night, the original. I don't think I've ever seen it in full but it was enjoyable.

I think I'm scrapping the horror movie thing because I'm having a problem focusing on one genre, so I've just been trying to rewatch films from the past or see new ones. Yesterday and today I watched The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome again for the first time since I was a kid. Road Warrior was pretty awesome... but the latter just seemed like a really fucked up children's film. Maybe why I liked it as a kid.

I meant every day of this month.  I rarely watch movies anymore. Maybe 10 a year.

Watched this since it's about to go off streaming, though kinda wish I didn't. Kinda dull. Tongue

Yeah, it was a movie I was always hyped for. When I finally watched it, I was disappointed. I think the only movie that really lived up to the disturbing hype for me was A Serbian Film.

I love Henry. Shit's dark and really well-made.

22. The Evil Dead - 10/10 RW
23. Evil Dead II - 10/10 RW
24. Army of Darkness (international cut) - 10/10
25. Hocus Pocus - 7/10
26. Halloween (1978) - 10/10 RW
27. Halloween II (1981) - 7/10 RW
28. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers - 7/10 RW
29. Halloween 5 - 3/10 RW
30. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Producer's Cut) - 4/10
31. The Lords of Salem - 7/10

First time seeing Curse of Michael Myers Producer's Cut. Not as shit as the theatrical cut but still shit. H2 got worse this time around but H4 got better and is currently my favorite of the Myers sequels. Gonna do H20, Resurrection, and the Rob Zombie movies this week.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch is still the only great movie in the series besides the original.
