You know I got that Yob album but found it strange no one was talking about it, not even a post about it here.

Did no one here talk about it? It's one of my favorite albums they've done so far.

Alphabetical because trying to rank albums that are not even in the same genre is stupid. I think I'm forgetting a few. Highlighted ones are the ones that have stuck with me the hardest.

Agalloch - The Serpent and the Sphere [Agalloch Metal]

Bastard Sapling - Instinct is Forever [Black Metal]
Blut aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta III [Black Metal]
Dread Sovereign - All Hell's Martyrs [Doom Metal]
Emptiness - Nothing but the Whole [Industrial/Black Metal]
Faun - Luna [Folk/Rock]
Giant Squid - Minoans [Prog/"Post" Metal]
Horrendous - Ecdysis [Death Metal]
Kayo Dot - Coffins on Io [Kayo Dot]
Lord Mantis - Death Mask [Gross]
Mamiffer - Statu Nascendi [Ambient/Post Rock]
Mastodon - Once More 'Round the Sun [Heavy Metal/Sludge/Rock]
Nasheim - Solens vemod [Black Metal]
Noble Beast - Noble Beast [Power Metal]
Old Man Gloom - The Ape of God [Ape]
Old Man Gloom - The Ape of God [God]

Pallbearer - Foundations of Burden [Doom Metal]
Panopticon - Roads to the North [Folk/Black Metal]
Primordial - Where Greater Men Have Fallen [Primordial]
Saor - Aura [Folk/Black Metal]
Solstafir - Otta [Surf Post-Rock]
Sühnopfer - Offertoire [Castle Metal]
Thantifaxath - Sacred White Noise [Black Metal]
Thou - Heathen [Sludge]
Triptykon - Melana Chasmata [Goth/Doom Metal]
Vaskula - Vaskula [‪#‎arizonasadboys‬]
Waldgefluster - Meine Fesseln [Black Metal]
Wheels Within Wheels - Thirtyfive Thoughts to Nineteen Elements [Negativity]

I'm shocked that I haven't seen Panopticon's new one on more year end lists.

It's been on a few. It was number 9 on Decibel's, which is a pretty big deal.

Holy shit, I'm listening to the new Horrendous album for the first time now and it is killer! Not good enough to add to my list, but damn...

Shit, I've been beyond terrible about keeping up with new albums this year, even worse than last year if that was possible.  Here are some of the not ordered albums I've been enjoying when I can:

Woods of Desolation - As the Stars
Mare Cognitum - Phobos Monolith
Spectral Lore - III
Winterfylleth - Divination of Antiquity
Burzum - The Ways of Yore (hehe, I've actually been enjoying this more and more whenever I put it on)
Winterlore - Four Swords Against the Pious (Not quite generic as fuck, but close enough and I don't care)
Ered Wethrin - Tides of War (This and the last band are from Salt Lake City, this plus all of the other great stuff coming from there recently is making me consider the somewhat absurd thought that the best metal scene in the US is in Salt Lake City)
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta III
Saor - Aura

I've enjoyed the bit of what I've heard of the new Panopticon, it would make my list if I had spent more time with it, and I'd probably enjoy the new Agalloch if I bothered to listen to it, but for now that is all that is coming to mind for this year.

Run the Jewels 2 was good. So was King Dude's new album. Claypool's new one as well. thats about all I've listened to this year. Oh and I guess the new Giant Squid. I didn't realize they had a new one out until like 3 days ago, and I'm sure it's better than everything listed in this thread so far.

Didn't know Yob or Giant Squid had a new album out. Slipknot's new one has been amazing to me. I guess I haven't really gotten anything from this year because I don't really have anything to list.

So the new Giant Squid is better than the new Giant Squid that I listed?

He's going to change his mind about the Giant Squid album after realizing you said you liked their album.

My list would be shit anyway, so I'll just show a picture of my favorite album of the year. Vince DiCola's score has been some of my absolute favorite music for almost ten years, and this is the definitive release of the soundtrack.

The new Giant Squid came off my list and was put back on a few times. Ultimately, I chose to remove it. But I did like it a lot.

Swans was great before Michael Gira decided that everyone needs to pay attention to him for 3 hours at a time. I refuse to listen to the new Swans because of its running time. That's fucking ridiculous.

I'll probably make my way through Jeff and Kerr's lists at some point.
