Downloads. I believe the "six strike law" is in place currently with most big name ISPs. At least half of us here probably download some albums before buying. What methods are still safe? Which aren't? Are some unsafe only if the album you download is part of a big name record label? Plz rspnd

I haven't illegally downloaded an album in forever. Generally shit's on YouTube or some kind of streaming service so I can hear a few songs then and decide if I want to buy. Stuff on Bandcamp is automatically available for listening.

Think the last thing I downloaded was a MACH 1.67 single because screw paying $20 for a small handful of songs.

Dumb law, though. Stupid fucking Nazi bullshit. You could expect this kind of crap from a government, but isn't it service providers who police this thing? Bogus beyond belief.

Use a proxy, also it appears free file-hosting services are not affected and it aimed more at bit torrent users

Mediafire and all major hosting sites are pretty safe. Usenet is my main file-transfer method. Kickass download speeds, great content, and SSL-encryption.

You can't get in trouble for downloading stuff from Mediafire. They get you for peer2peer, and mediafire isn't p2p.

I'm in Canada where piracy (for now) is still technically legal.

So my buddy just told me about this site rdio.com. I just signed up for it. It has pretty well every album I'll ever want to listen to (I've been testing it) and its like 5 bucks a month. Pretty sweet I'd say.

Seriously this is awesome. Don't have to go hunting for hardly anything anymore. And if you want to upgrade to ten bucks a month you can sync all this up with your phone!

What? All the odd ball jazz and shit it takes me a long ass time to find is on here, plus more. For five dollars. Sounds like a god damn good idea to me.
