No clue if this is any good, but it's Piggy D so I'd have to assume so. Incredibly surprising to see how quickly they put something else out after their first new album in 5 or 6 years. So far it sounds like PxDx during Natasha more than any of their other albums

Read the description: "This ep was written and recorded during the final day of the Phantom Limb sessions with unexpected extra studio time and resources. In the following years, with Natasha being released on its own and Brian no longer being in the band, our intentions of releasing Mass & Volume basically evaporated. However, looking back now, Mass & Volume serves as a great epilogue to that particular era of the band."

So it's a short EP of old material of them dicking around cuz they could. That's basically what it sounds like too. Easy pass over here.

So... were they at one point a doom band since you say this sounds like other stuff? I've only heard grind stuff from them.

They always have had some sludge or stoner influence (listen to Starbelly off of PitY and Terrifyer off of... Terrifyer). Natasha is pretty much the only thing besides this that sticks to a doom sound even though I'd definitely say that these both (not both the songs on the album, but the first track and all of natasha) are borderline drone doom.

And yeah the first track definitely sounds pretty stretched out to me or it was an idea that didn't get enough time put into it, but it did have a good, but short lived part here and there. The second song was more consistent. I like what they did with the vox here

I hope they come back down to Australia. I don't have high hopes of it happening. I was pretty bummed that I missed them on their last tour.

They haven't played SF in over 10 years if I'm not mistaken... Having their new drummer I figured they'd be able to do more shows, but so far all the shows are in other countries or are on the east coast.
