I believe r_z mentioned some time back having a boner for this movie.

Twilight Time's coming out with a Blu-ray for it, using a master licensed from Sony. It's bound to look fantastic since Sony usually do a great job.

However, it seems unlikely that this will contain the commentary and cut footage contained on the DVD. That's a little bogus.

Anyway, never seen the flick, but I'ma pick this up. Available for pre-order September 14th from Screen Archives, limited to 3,000 and likely $30–35 plus shipping (they're pirates—ass pirates, I tells ya).

It used to scare the shit out of me as a little kid. I remember it taking 2 days for me to get through the whole thing.

It sure is some mad bullshit.

Sony usually do top-notch HD masters, some of the best around. Dunno why they'd botch this up so bad.

Twilight Time issued the statement that when they receive masters from Sony or Fox, it's assumed that what they're given is representative of the filmmakers' vision. So they're trying to pursue Sony to see if that's the case, and also if there was anything that got goofed up during the telecine process.

If this is for-sure what it's supposed to look like, I cry foul and am probably gonna take TT up on their refund offer (or sell it on eBay since it's sold out, lololol) and just get the DVD, 'cos that's fuggin' ugly. "hay gaiz, lets eraze every color but for blue!"

I'm hoping they redo the transfer and issue out replacements, though.

lol, apparently Don May posted about this on Facebook (I wouldn't know firsthand since that faggot took me off his friends list and won't re-add me) and Savini replied, "BLUE!!!!"

I just watched the disc and it's not as dark as that video shows, but the colors are definitely muted.

Apparently the DP signed off on this transfer, and Savini viewed it in full and thought it was beautiful. Don May also had good things to say about it, that the new muted tones give it a really creepy vibe, to which I agree. Having never seen the film any other way, I'm perfectly satisfied.

So on VUDU there's an HD download of the film that's $12 to buy, and it's an older transfer with the original color timing. But they've got this Disc to Digital service where you can bring in a DVD and pay $5 for the HDX copy ("HDX" being full 1080p with better sound as opposed to regular VUDU HD which is 720p), or bring in the Blu-ray and get the HDX copy for $2. Plus, you get a $6 credit for signing up to VUDU using your PS3. Soooo, I'm gonna fuckin' DOO DAT. I like the Blu-ray, but I wanna see this in its original timing, so what better way? Also there are camera shutter sound effects missing from the ending on the Blu-ray, so yeah.

Only weak thing is the Blu-ray doesn't have the behind the scenes documentary, but I think it's on YooToob.

Bring in the TT blu-ray?

Why not just hang onto it and dump it on ebay for $100 in six months...

Ya just bring it in for verification that you already own the film and thus get a discount on the digital purchase. It's not a trade-in.

I just hope they don't put a stamp or sticker on the case or anything. I'll tell 'em to fuck off if they try to.
