DaS has updated mechanics. If you play DS you will be fine buying the successor later in time, but there is no way you can go from DaS (IMO) to DS. Just like going from Persona 4 to Persona 3 as P3 doesn't allow direct control of party members. It's pretty much that big of a difference.

Both are great games, but DaS is greater, DS is overall less forgiving. If you are okay with serious challenge with absolutely no hand holding go DS. If you need some direction at the start, but with sudden spikes in difficulty throughout the game..go DaS.

Everyone should experience both, but I doubt people will be inclined to go through all of DS after playing DaS.

I was told the same thing about ME1 and ME2, but I still play ME1 from time to time. I'll probably give Demon's a chance first.

I like, but also hate at the same time, unforgiving games.

There's things about ME2 that are a lot better, but overall I liked ME1 far more.

Everyone else didn't like how it played more like an RPG like KOTOR and blew the whole Mako thing out of proportion.

Know what? I actually liked driving the mako. The only thing I hated was having to drive up mountains or find the long way around to get to a resource/assignment area. That shit pissed me off.

God damnit. It's so hard.

I've died so many times in this one area. I'm like... going up in a castle. I just got to the big ass troll thing on a walkway. It killed me. I gave up.

pro tip: immediately after entering the fog gate, turn around and go up the ladder. there will be two easy enemies up there. kill them. When the boss is chasing after you, run away as fast as you can. Don't try to deal ANY damage to him up close. You want to run away to the side with the ladder, climb it, and then do a jump attack. Repeat this 2-3 times and the boss will die

Yeah. I figured out about the archers my first time walking out there. I actually killed the Taurus Demon on like my third or fourth try. I had 8000+ souls at that point so I was wary of dying... so I slowly started crossing the bridge after you talk to the guy who gives you the power to use co-op. Dragon comes out, dead instantly. Sucks, bro. I actually got back there and snagged my souls back. Then I ran the hell back to the bonfire and leveled up with my lot of souls.

It's a pretty cool game. Very satisfying when you take one of those fuckers down. On the last attempt where I ended up killing the demon, he didn't even touch me. Now I want to try that rabbit eared fucker in the small hallway that was giving me problems earlier.

And just to note on what I was saying in the Haul's Thread, I ended up implementing the fixes on Dark Souls. Now it really does look way better and the framerate has improved. So that's cool. I think I might disable the depth of field that the last fix update had. I think that might further improve my framerate.

To be honest, it's not a huge deal. The game was fine before I used the modded files. Sure, it looks and runs better now... but I honestly wouldn't have cared or thrown a bitch fit over the way it was before like tons of people did. It still looked just fine.

Yeah FDS/Drake Sword makes things a lot easier at first. I love DaS, but it's a game that's very difficult to go back to after any kind of break. I'll eventually buy the PC ver. even though I have it on ps3. Hopefully all the bugs get patched up. I think I left off after killing 4 kings which gave me some problems due to a slow weapon that he was somewhat resistant to. Now that the game has been out for a while newcomers can see which builds and what items to go for. I've got lightning spear and gravelord sword in my right hand, miracle talisman +shield in other. Back when I was playing TWOP and fog ring were necessary to have a fair pvp fight soo yeah. I guess they fixed a lot of the alignment covenant system stuff so there is more reason to stick with them till the end. Actually now I remember getting to the end of the hollow tree area in an attempt to talk with this dragon, but I tried running to him past all the mobs...didn't work out too well so I just got frustrated and quit

I don't know what most of that means, lol. I'm still not very far into the game so I don't know much about anything.

Fuuuuck. I'm in the Darkroot Garden (because I didn't want to fight the fucking thing in the Lower Undead Burg) and god damnit. These stupid fucking bushes keep leaching on me and taking like half my life.

What the hell should I do? Keep going with the Darkroot Garden? Or take on the boss of the Lower Undead Burg?

The garden area is pretty easy minus the hydra. There's a black knight through there. The bushes are pretty easy to kill. you just gotta keep your distance and after they do their attack run in and just burst them down. Or you can take your time even. I got grabbed first time cause I didn't understand what their attack animations meant, but it's rly obvious when they're gonna grab to me now. Be careful of some serious traps/ambushes in there

I'm really curious to play this game. I don't know why, I'll probably hate it. Too bad I don't have a PS3 or a PC that will run it.

I've come to realize that Dark Souls has bullshit difficulty and it's getting old. It relies on you not knowing what's coming and then BAM, you're dead.

You can't just run into areas and expect to live. You need to go in places carefully and scope out where everything is. The difficulty of the game is that there is not any room for errors.
