Nice stealth brag Wink

I've pre-ordered it, staying the hell away from samples until then. I've got full confidence in him, I see no reason to ruin the surprise.

A friend of mine who's heard both the new albums claims Kentucky is even better.

They're too different to compare. Kentucky is fairly calm record with a LOT of acoustic parts. It's honestly probably 60% acoustic. SD, on the other hand, is one of the more dense records I've heard. There's always a ton of shit going on.

Is "Kentucky" (is that the actual name, did we figure out?) actually done done? Like, it's mastered and everything and basically just waiting for Social Disservices to release then it's good to go soon after too? Or is it gonna be a while?

Also, just checked out that Wreck and Reference band. Sounded dumb from the description ("electronic doom") but I was really surprised..I like it. The vocals and their diversity were great and it's surprisingly un-electronic sounding in style at least, even if the instrumentation/execution still is. And they're from fucking Davis? That's fucking next door to Sacramento. Apparently I've missed them do shows practically down the fucking street from me or in the Bay Area with the likes of Elders, Pale Chalice, Bosse-de-Nage and Planning For Burial. Fuck. Weak. Gotta keep my eye on them now.

Fuck Flenser for releasing stuff I have to have when I really, really shouldn't spend money.

It's been done for a while. I first heard it about two months ago. And yeah, "Kentucky" is the name.

You need to add Panopticon to your Facebook, R_Z. Colin Marston mastered Kentucky a few weeks ago.

Facebook should be less of a mess of an ugly, unintuitive website and the people that use it should stop being fucking shitheads. HOW BOUT THAT FUCKHEAD. Though I did look it up on Google and find out some info that Kentucky, despite being "done", is likely delayed until 2012.

Been streaming the new Falls of Rauros, it's pretty fucking good. Flenser offers it as a distributed item in the webstore. Looks like I'm gonna go ahead with the pre-order and throw that bitch in there too.

So, they just released a full track a few days ago. I caved yesterday:

http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2011/10/panopticon_rele.html#more

Resident.

11 minutes of HOLYFUCKINGVIKINGSODOMYOMG!

You know how I made a thread a few months ago about me burning out on heavy music and not feeling that new music is ever brutal anymore? Forget that.

This track is not only the heaviest Panopticon track so far, but it's some of the heaviest listenable black metal I've ever heard. And the cello-section is god damned beautiful. Can't wait for the new album.

I concluded that not only is Social Disservices the best Panopticon album, it's my AOTY so far.

No, you fucking confused.

Kentucky is another album. Both are done. Social Disservices is the one coming out November, Kentucky is a little while off still.

Austin played me a clip, but it was too loud to listen to it for long. All I heard was some cool bluegrassy-stuff. Banjoes, bitches.

that makes sense, anyway song was good sounded like two songs being played at the same time for a layered effect

that cello is what most makes it so brutal. Eagerly anticipating this. I think it should be less than a month away. Also gonna make me nuts waiting for Kentucky, which I imagine I may like even more. Is Flenser doing Kentucky also?

No fucking fair.

Also, I broke down and downloaded the damn thing. Coukdn't bear the wait for my transatlantic delivery. I brought out my kickass hipster knockoff yantra mat, pulled down the blinds, turned off the lights and an hour later it was finished. AoTY without a doubt in my mind.

It pretty much poops on all the other albums, and I haven't even read any lyrics yet. Gut wrenching from start to finish. And damn if those strings ( and flute?) are the most tasteful orchestration I've heard on a black metal album.
