I'm not saying like get an emulator and play console games... just free shareware or freeware games. I haven't played any games on a computer in a while. I like platforming, action, and RPG games... So pretty much any type of games would do it for me.

I'm thinking I'm going to redownload Super Columbine Massacre RPG.

You like FPS? OpenArena is a pretty good Quake Arena clone.

Now that you mention it, I've actually got Quake Arena somewhere. Tongue Would I be better off playing Quake or the one you mentioned?

Steam has a lot of Free to play games now, like TF2. Also a bunch of MMOs.

Open Arena probably has a more active online community.

Is it all free? Do you have to have a subscription or anything?

tf2 is now f2p but it's also garbage now that there's a cash shop
League of Legends is f2p (moba style/dota game) has very active community
GOG.com is giving away Ultima IV for free if you like classic RPGs
If you don't want a quake clone there is a browser based version of quake 3 called quake zero or quake live
I think Heroes of Newearth may be f2p now as well (dota clone)

The first two Elder Scrolls games are free, if you're willing to jump into an old, unforgiving WRPG.

I'm not sure I'm really ready for games like Elder Scrolls. Is it kind of similar to Ultima, or no?

If you do sign up with steam, check out Alien Swarm--I didn't see it listed with the other F2P games that Bluge posted.

4-player coop survival game.

I love playing it, but none of my friends on steam care to play it ever again--not because it's bad, but because they beat it.

If anyone wants to from here, I'd be up for it.

Steam ID is GROCERIES, Penis Investigator.

I never beat it. I didn't play it all that much, and my other friends were playing it when I didn't have time to. Tongue

You should. It's good fun. There apparently have been some really good community campaigns as well. Haven't tried them out, yet.

If Lox decides to get it, I'd love to run through it again with some metal bros.

Only if possy joins and tries to melee bosses and\or tanks.

are we talkin about alien swarm? I have only played it a handful of times. Once encountering a game ruining bug that wouldn't let me or my team continue. Would definitely be down to do all the levels with you guys

Yarp.

We also experienced what we thought was a bug, but then figured out that the whole party wasn't in a particular place for the ship to land so we couldn't continue. It kept happening while we were trying to do the speed runs. Plain

I don't remember the exact details but what was supposed to be the end of a level didn't end the game even when standing on it or whatever, but I believe it may have eben on the same level where a ship dropped down so you could cross a gap

I've never played Ultima, but I'd think Elder Scrolls is more advanced, since the first game came out over a decade after Ultima started. The graphics are sort of like halfway between Wolfenstein 3D and Doom in quality. The interface is fairly easy to get into, I think, although in order to do melee attacks you have to right-click and drag your pointer across the screen, which is kind of unusual.

I remember getting a PC Gamer over 10 years ago that came with the following, which might all be free:

Ultima
Ultima Underworld
Need for Speed
Duke Nukem 3D
Duke Nukem 2
Descent
Monkey Island

Umm, and I can't remember the rest

Due to you mentioning Duke Nukem I just went to dosgamesarchive.com and got me some sweet games I used to play when I was younger.

Old Apogee games were sweet. Major Stryker, Commander Keen, Bio Menace, Cosmo, etc.

Most of those I only had the shareware, but I must of completed them like a dozen times

Ahhh fuck yeah. I just racked up.

Alien Carnage
Blood
Commander Keen
Corridor 7: Alien Invasion
Descent
Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Heretic
Math Rescue
Raptor
Realms of Chaos
Rise of the Triad
Shadow Warrior
Terminal Velocity
Vinyl Goddess From Mars
Worms

Yeah, Apogee games were great. Maybe about half of these are shareware. Still, that's what I remember playing anyway. I'm sure I can find full copies cheap or free if I feel the need to play the full games.
