I'm starting to get back into death metal. I have no idea why I stopped listening to such stuff.

"There are no 'slam till you can't slam no more breakdowns', no pig squeals, no arpeggios; simply classic Death Metal, nothing more, nothing less.
"
swear I heard some in the solo...

Bloodsoaked is pretty cool. His first CD is my favorite, but the last one wasn't too bad, either.

Green shoes, if you're trying to get into some death metal that's actually very appealing to someone of your musical background (as in, not just the tr00 br00tile old-skull stuff), you might want to check out these:

Aborted
Pathology (specifically their last album for you)
Abominable Putridity
Dying Fetus (the last 3 albums for you)
Necrophagist
Parasitic Extirpation
Ingested (you'd probably love them)
Waking The Cadaver
Kraanium
Suffocation (the last 3 albums for you)
Death
Behemoth (all albums from 1999-2004 for you)
Cattle Decapitation
Impaled
Hacksaw To The Throat
Bloodbath
Deicide (Insineratehymn and Scars of The Crucifix for you)
Torture Killer
Necrophagia
Decapitated

I guess you've probably heard some of these bands before. Those are some of the catchier, more "easy to get into if you like deathcore and metalcore" death metal bands that I know. Hope that helps.

Cheers Ian. I've always had a thing for death metal but I've never really jumped right into the genre. I dig tech death bands but I love a lot of the old school stuff.

I'm actually surprised that you'd like the old stuff. I can't offer much in that category, other than Autopsy, Bloodbath, Deicide and Grave. They're both great bands, and I'd suggest actually checking out all of Autopsy's albums. Anything else I could recommend was probably already thrown at you by one of those IGN dudes if you've already asked for death recs (I think I remember you making one when I first started posting on IGN). Anyway, I hope you can find something in that list enjoyable.

Greeny all you need to listen to is Death. Maybe some Morbid Angel. Other than that, Death Metal is pretty much trash.

Entombed - everything up until Nick Andersson left after To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth.

Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris. I swear to god, their album never fucking gets old.

Monolith Deathcult - Triumvirate

Edge of Sanity - Crimson. 42 minutes, one piece, pretentious scifi prog death-metal-mania. It's glorious.

I saw Bloodsoaked live a while ago, and he was pretty good. I still really like this kind of stuff, even though I don't listen to it that often.

If you haven't, you should of course check out Putrid Pile.

I thought everyone on the Metal Board thought "anything that's remotely considered slam = wigger$lamcore"?
