As promised, the less experimental but more crushing debut from the glorious and once-Sacramentan Giant Squid. 320 Kbps MP3 format.

"Summit" is positively heart-wrenching.

I's got an actual copy of that. I think I've got the rerelease of it.

I now see the thread where you guys were talking about this and it being way different from the rerelease. I suppose I'll download this when I get home, too

What the friggin frick are you on about? I said, "once-Sacramentans," and they're only once-Texans, as well. Their history is as follows:

Carmichael (which is just outside of Sac; for all intents and purposes, anybody outside of the Sacramento area would just be told it was the "Sacramento area" to avoid confusion or needless explanation), then Sacramento itself, then Austin, Texas, then back to Sacramento, then off to San Francisco. Supposedly the bassist Bryan Beeson still lives in Sacramento/Carmichael, though, which sounds about right cuz I see him at shows in the area a bunch.

mmkay i waited to listen to the re-release again before posting my impressions

while you were right that this release is heavier and generally doomier, i definitely prefer the version released by The End. the vocals are much better imo, especially the melodies. i also think the drumming is a lot tighter and more tasteful on the second go-around.

both smash balls and laugh about it tho
