The Phantom Menace is a disaster. Horrible acting all around, even from competent actors. The story is pretty boring, basically nothing happens up until the pod race which really drags on too long, and then... the rest. It's really only set up to show you who Anakin is and why he's special but its so boring and bad its not worth seeing.

The acting wasn't bad.

You're right, the acting wasn't bad. The acting was abysmal.

I thought the acting was all right, at least from Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, not to mention the miming of Ray Park as Darth Maul.

Really, Phantom Menace is a trainwreck of a movie, but at least it's fun in an over-the-top action kind of way. The podrace, the Maul fight, it's all pretty fun to watch. The other two don't really have these going for them as they tried to be more, err, "dark," I guess.

But they're all terrible movies, in my opinion. At least with TPM, though, I can sit back and kind of enjoy it, just like I can with the two Matrix sequels, despite how retarded they are.

:[face_talk_han Everyone acted in the movie exactly as their characters should have been portrayed. All the main actors, anyway.

Those aspects were fun the first time you saw the movie, when you didn't know any better, but after more and more viewings the lamer they get. The pod race goes on for like 40 minutes or something, and the fight with Darth Maul is actually quite short and anti-climactic. Not to mention the lame way he dies.

I should rephrase that then. The way Lucas made them act was bad. I mean if they were acting good, doing a good job of how the director told them to do it then they did a good job, but what they were told to do was bad.

I think the dinner scene is the key moment where everything turns to shit. It's actually so bad my friends and I watch it occasionally just to get a laugh.

Jake Loyyd is horrible, and it just so happens the whole movie is about him so with such a weak main character the movie is just a waste.

Boba never dies? Oh don't give me that... Only people who think the EU is on the same level as the films think he survives. It's stupid. He died liked everyone else that fell in. Boba Fett was nothing special.

Actually, it has been a few years since I've even seen the movie. My slight liking for it mostly stems from when I was 13, when it came out. When it was released to VHS and later DVD, I watched it a whole bunch of times. It was a big near-summer blockbuster filled with excitement.

I dislike the movie overall, and probably would find a lot of the "good" scenes tedious to watch now. I don't know. Dun' really care. o: Like I said, in my little world I try to pretend that the prequels don't even exist.

It would explain the lame "death" in the movies. Besides Obi Wan had the lamest death, he disappeared. Tongue

He became one with the force! He came back more powerful than Vader could have ever imagined!

He didn't come back at all plus Alec Guinness hated the movies saying they ruined his career.
