With the departure of Ronnie Radke and Omar Espinosa from the band Escape The Fate has bounced back with Craig Mabbit as the new vocalist.
This War Is Ours sees Escape The Fate leaving behind the post hardcore scene and settling on a more Rock orientated sound with some jazz influences coming through in some of their songs. The album isn't completely devoid of the post hardcore sound, "This War Is Ours (The Guillotine Part II)" is a powerful piece of post hardcore music with some nice guitar solos and powerful screams followed by emotional singing. The screams are minimal on the album with only 4 of the songs featuring screams but only the aforementioned song uses a great deal of it.
The songs aren't as fast as their previous album, Dying Is Your Latest Fashion, but the musicianship is tighter with strong bass lines. The song writing isn't as good as their last work but the songs are still instantly catchy like "Ashley". The jazz influences come in strong with the last track "It's Just Me". If Escape The Fate continues in the direction that This War Is Ours is setting them off into then they have a real chance and establishing themselves as a hard hitting rock act instead of staying behind in an over crowded Post Hardcore scene.
